There are many proposals for adding security to the Internet. Netscape's is particularly elegant in that it can be implemented in a transparent manner without changing existing protocols. It is already built into Netscape 1.1 and interested readers who have access to this web browser can try the system at a number of sites including the RSA Inc. secure webpage https://www.rsa.com/netscape.
Netscape have taken a strong path to standardisation of their proposal
by making it open, submitting it as an Interent Draft, providing a
reference port and implementing it in their products. From this base
they must be in a strong position to take a lead in the emerging
Internet security architecture.
